Yes you guessed it this post is about the ‘L’ word….. loneliness. Recently I have been feeling this type of way due to a mixture of things. I know I am not the only one that struggles with this so I thought why not write a post about it. So I know feeling lonely  is not of God because with him I am never alone right ?… So then why do I still entertain these thoughts. I will tell you why.

To be honest I started to compare myself to other people. I felt like everyone was in a relationship whether it was on my snap chat, Facebook, YouTube or instagram. I started to think (what I do best lol) about my life. Why was I single? Why have I never been in a proper relationship? Would being in a relationship make me happier than I already am? Another reason why I decided to entertain these thoughts is because I forgot to remind myself of the truth. The truth that I am never alone because I have God by my side. Lastly, I forgot to renew my mind with the  word of God. Having a positive mindset doesn’t come naturally it’s something you need to train your mind to do intentionally. Feeling lonely can be dangerous it may cause you to find comfort in the wrong  places and people. Please don’t enter a relationship because you are feeling lonely. This is a BIG no no! You need to be satisfied with yourself and love your own company. The only person you can’t run away from is yourself so love you.

I am not saying that I will never feel lonely again but I am saying I am going to try my best not to  entertain those negative thoughts because they are lies. One thing that has really helped me recently is taking a break from social media some call it a social media fast. Social media only shows us the best bits of people lives and if you don’t recognise it you can fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others and making their life your goals.

So tips for overcoming feeling lonely (it’s simple):

  1. Take a break from social media if needed
  2.  Read the truth ( your bible). I find it helpful to search about it what they bible says about loneliness
  3. Renew your mind with the truth DAILY
  4. Surround yourself with people that love and care about you
  5. Fall in love with yourself again and again

I think my job here is done, hopefully this helped someone and remember do not fear for he is with you (Isaiah 41: 10) and he is a friend who sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18: 24)

Trust in your journey, it’s a unique one
